The haftarah of Behukkotai is taken from the writings of Jeremiah. The prophet refers to G-d as "my strength, my stronghold, and my refuge". Jeremiah shares that the southern kingdom of Judah shall be destroyed. Her destiny has been written with an "a pen of iron and with a point of a diamond."
The prophet speaks of the need for faith. "Blessed is the person who trusts in the L-rd, and whose trust the L-rd is." Jeremiah compares the person of faith as a tree with beautiful foliage. The tree will even survive a year of drought with fruit.
The words of the prophet have been incorporated as the prayer for healing of the daily Amidah. "Heal me, O L-rd, and I shall be healed. Save me and I shall be saved. For You are my praise."
