This Shabbat is the third Shabbat of Consolation after the observance of Tisha B'av, the Ninth of Av. These beautiful words of hope are derived from the writings of the Second Isaiah. These prophecies are known as the seven Haftarot of Consolation, which are read from Tisha B'Av until the arrival of the New Year. The prophet speaks of the beautiful precious stones that will form the border of the new Israel. Israel shall live in peace and righteousness will rule the nation. The land will be prosperous. Food will be shared without cost. Isaiah speaks of the eternal covenant between G-d and the Kingdom of David. The prophet foretells of a renewed relationship of faith between G-d and His people.
