The Book of Obadiah, one of the Minor Prophets, is the haftarah selection for this Shabbat. Obadiah speaks of the destruction of the descendants of Esau. "The house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They shall kindle in them and devour them. There shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the L-rd has spoken." The prophet concludes with a call for devotion to G-d.
